Bob McEwen

Congressman Bob McEwen served six years in the Ohio General Assembly before first being elected to Congress in 1980. Re-elected five more times, he ultimately served 12 years in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Congressman McEwen was selected by his colleagues to two of the most coveted positions in the U.S. Congress: the Select Committee on Intelligence and the powerful House Rules Committees. As one of the only four Republicans on the 13-person Rules Committee, he managed nearly a third of all legislation on the House floor for the Republican House leadership.

Congressman McEwen was the primary sponsor of the National Strategy Act, which realigned the U.S. military chain of command during times of hostilities. His legislation played a major role in the success of Operation Desert Storm.

Congressman McEwen brings to Advantage his knowledge and insider's experience of knowing what it takes to get legislation approved or blocked. His carefully cultivated connections within the government -- and with business leaders around the world -- makes him a tremendous asset to the Advantage team.

Congressman McEwen represented President Reagan and President Bush as a Special Presidential Envoy. He also served as a U.S. Representative to European Parliament in 1985-1993. Congressman McEwen and Senator Bob Dole participated as official U.S. Observers in Poland for the first parliamentary election of non-communist leader of a Communist country. He also represented the United States as an official observer in Moscow during the immediate aftermath of the failed 1991 coup attempt against Soviet President Gorbachev, and in 1992 for the ceremonies marking the formal dissolution of the Soviet Union.

Congressman McEwen also brings to Advantage experience in business, public speaking and marketing. Congressman McEwen has appeared frequently on such network programming as CNN's Crossfire, NBC's The Today Show, ABC's Good Morning America, and CNN's Larry King Live. He has been in high demand as a public speaker and his writings have appeared in numerous national publications.

Congressman McEwen earned his bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Miami in 1972.
